I cannot fault the customer service from this rental company. They were responsive to our every request, prompt, pleasant and helpful. My problem was with the property that we were renting. 1155 W Ocean Blvd. was a shambles. We rented both sides of the duplex. It should never have been rented in the condition that it was. The property was in very poor repair. Damaged kitchen cabinets.

Dirty louvers on the furnace closets. Closet doors falling off. The clothes dryer lint traps were overflowing with lint, obviously had not been cleaned in weeks. The furniture and beds on one side of the duplex were stained and in disgusting condition. On one side the sliding door which is the main egress from the unit to the deck was almost inoperable.

I repairman was sent to tackle it but could not improve the opening/closing. This door should have been replaced years ago. A railing on the walkway to the beach was broken presenting a serious safety hazard. There were so many more safety/repair issues that I cannot list them here.

Update: I left a review on the house on the Holden Beach Vacations website and it was submitted for " review." It has still not shown up on the house. I suspect there may be other negative reviews that they just aren't approving. I've lowered my rating to 1 star. Will update if my honest review shows up on their site. We had an overall bad experience at our rental property. 791 Ocean Blvd West, called Far Side West.

A couple of positives, the kitchen was well equipped and the space was open with a great view. The bad: 1. Our linens smelled SO BAD! Like cigarette smoke. We couldn't call anyone since we didn't realize this until Saturday night after check in. We had to wash the sheets twice to get the smell out. 2. None of the tubs have working plugs and all were very slippery.

We couldn't give our 2 year old a proper bath all week and he kept slipping and falling. This lead to him screaming and crying every night at "bath" time and trying to climb out due to being scared. When I tried to close the plug on one of the tubs, a big rusty screw just fell out. We didn't feel like wasting our vacation trying to get any of this fixed so we just made due. 3.

There were no comforters on any of the beds when we arrived. We had to go searching through closets to find blankets to use. I don't think there are even enough comforters for all the beds. We made sure we left two comforters on beds when we left to give the next guests a better experience with that. 4. The house advertises as having two bedrooms with queen beds.

They are not queens but double beds! There is not a single queen bed in that house. My husband's feet were literally hanging off the end of the mattress. 5. The beds are not very comfortable. My mom had to take pain meds every night due to her bed causing so much pain in her joints. She slept on the couch the last two nights. 6. The sprayer on the boardwalk is not a sprayer, but a cut off old water hose.

It was maybe 3 feet long and cracking apart. 7. All the appliances are very old and could use replacement. We come to Holden Beach every year but sadly will not be renting this house again.

Choose another company to enjoy your Holden Beach vacation and get a better vacation and experience. Trust me. If I could give 0 stars, I would! My family has been going to Holden Beach for over 20 years. My grandparents always booked with Brunswickland realty. But apparently since the name changed, so did the quality, customer service, and everything else.

My family booked a beach trip this year in early January. We were unable to go because the hurricane at the beginning of August. I ALWAYS choose the travel insurance when I am booking with any realty company. I chose the travel insurance. I have proof from my signed lease agreement. Yet when it came time to get the claim form, apparently as I was told, I didn't get the travel insurance on their end.

I was fine with the decision they made to cancel the trip due to the hurricane and clean up because I was under the impression we were given the travel insurance, that I signed up for. But a few weeks after the hurricane, I never received the claim form. So I called the office to ask when I should get the form in the mail. No questions about my name, reservation ID, nothing.

I was told I would be receiving them soon. Two weeks later, still no form in the mail. So I called back. They finally decided to take my info and look into my reservation because I should have already received the form. I was told I would get a call back. I did, but was asked if I received the refund they gave for the taxes and etc. I did receive the refund and I was very grateful, but that does not pay back the rest of the refund I should have gotten from the travel insurance.

I was then told that they looked into my reservation and I did not choose travel insurance, even though I clearly chose that option during my lease agreement, which I told them. Their response was, "well for some reason it didn't choose it on our end and you dont have insurance." Well I chose to have the insurance. I have it documented. But ironically during a hurricane I was told it didn't register on their end.

So if i chose that option and it is on my lease agreement, clearly I wanted the insurance. I was told I would get a call back. That was weeks ago. Never received a call back. Of course not, why admit your mistake. What makes it worse is that I called in May to make sure that the amount was correct because I thought it looked wrong. I told them why I was calling and they said everything looked fine and dismissed my concerns, yet now I am out of thousands because they didn't care to do their job and dismissed me.

If they would have listened to me then and looked into my reservation then it could have been fixed then. They chose to dismiss my concerns. If I chose that option then I should receive the insurance. It is not my fault that their "system" did not register my choices even though I received my completed and signed lease agreement back which states I did.

Every time I called, they dismissed my questions and concerns. I guess since I payed, they don't care about their customers anymore. Horrible customer service. Don't even bother. Take your hard earned money and go to another realty company where they care about your needs and family!

After the island was closed due to Hurricane Isias (which is totally understandable) they failed to provide even the most basic of updates to renters. We received 2 generic emails and no one would answer the business phone to field any questions. It was literally radio silence. Our rental was starting on Saturday 8/1 and the island was closed on Friday.

We received exactly 2 emails with the last email being Wednesday 8/5 which informed us that they would be following up with more details. That has still not happened. We have been renting on Holden for nearly 30 years and we will never use this service again. Buyer beware.

My family has vacationed at Holden Beach for many years and have used every realty company at some point. I will always call them Brunswickland! Through the years I have had excellent service with these folks no matter what the name. I plan to schedule many more vacations through HBV! The things that they can control they are on top of but home owners trying to cut costs and renters who have no concern for anyone but themselves are the bane of most beach rentals.

For renters It takes minimal effort to try and leave the place a little better for the next family (wash the dishes!). Suggestion.ask the realty company for a chance to go through a house on the turn day (once it is vacated). We have almost always been able to get a walk through and saved our self from a poor rental choice.

We stayed at Perfect Landing from 9/7/19 - 9/14/19. We had issues with the house from the moment we checked in. The house was not in the condition the photos described. We made a long list of things that were broken or wrong with the house, including the AC. There were also cockroaches and other bugs in the house (not uncommon in the south, but still gross).

When we got home from vacation I realized I had left a few shirts behind ($200 worth) and my husband left his silicone wedding band. I called to inquire about our missing items and was told nothing had been found. I wasn't too upset because it was our fault for forgetting them if someone had ended up taking them. Today my MIL contacted the reality company about our deposit and was told that the cleaning crew found a cracked door so we would be losing our deposit.

None of us remember a crack in the door in question, but considering the state the house was in, there is no way to prove when the crack occurred. $1500 is too big a deposit to lose for a crack in the door. I would highly recommend going with a different reality company. We vacation at Holden every few years and will keep this in mind when choosing our next rental.

We stayed at Captain's Quarters from September 7-14, and the house was not the house displayed in the photos. When we checked out, we handed them a long list of things that were broken, gross, or wrong with the house. This included a leaky toilet, cockroaches, and horrifying mold on the water/ice dispenser in the fridge. This by no means ruined our vacation, but was something to note.

Clearly nobody had thought to clean the water/ice dispenser out for months. Upon checkout, we got charged an outrageous amount to fix a hole in the wall, caused by preexisting water damage on the wall. To everyone out there, explore other options before booking with Holden Beach Vacations.

The house we rented was named Haleywood. I understand that not all houses are the same but this was super nice. Clean, very tidy, we LOVED it. The check in and check out was smooth and awesome. We had no problem with the company or the house. We think we will make this our annual vacation. We checked out almost 2 weeks ago and we have not received our deposit back yet but it did say it could take 30 days or so. I am very thankful for the vacation we had this year.

We had a VERY BAD experience with this company. The house we rented was 5 bedrooms of dirt and soiled carpets. There was a hole in the screen door, so we had to spend our first morning with a group of carpenters. The closet housing the a/c unit was full of dust. And, to add insult to injury, they asked us to leave for half a day so they could 'show' the house (our answer was no, thank you). I can't remember how long it took to get the deposit back. I do know that I asked for a partial refund. No dice.
