We scheduled a showing of a Kahler Property home several days in advanced due to the fact that we were driving 700 miles to see the home. I told Kahler this when scheduling over the phone. Our showing was confirmed the day of, but then cancelled 30 minutes before we were set to view the home. Kahler claimed it was due to tenants refusing to show the home and asked me to reschedule.

I said I could not because we were in Rapid City from out of state and would only be here for a limited time. So now we cannot see the home, and it is confusing to me as to how a rental company cannot be responsible enough to ensure all parties are in agreement when scheduling a showing.

I moved to Rapid City with my boyfriend and we only had about a month to search for apartments. I needed a safe place where I could finish my nursing degree and start my first job. Kahler's had a basement unit available that was very affordable and close to where I was doing my clinicals. Our apartment was easy to move into. It was a little dirty and there were spots of mold in the bathroom and the entryway.

We had not looked at it prior to moving in, but we soon found out why our rent was so cheap. After a few weeks of living there, we realized there were cockroaches. We knew we did not bring them with us (we are very clean people). After notifying Kahlers, we received an email that if the infestation was found to be caused by us, we were responsible for the entire bill.

Eventually the roaches were gone because we were able to keep our place spotless. After a few months of dealing with that, the upstairs neighbors became the problem. We knew it was going to be loud living in a basement apartment, but the upstairs neighbors were always fighting and had people coming and going at 2 am. This was frustrating, but manageable.

Around Christmas time, the neighbors had vacated the premises. On Christmas Eve, our basement neighbor was broken into. We were home and luckily nothing of ours was taken. We did some looking around after the incident and found that the upstairs neighbors had left all the of doors leading to the basement from their apartment unlocked. We were really freaked out so we notified Kahler to have our locks changed.

They changed the passcode to the main door, but our apartment was still very vulnerable, with the main entry being able to be opened with your fingernail! They did not put in a deadbolt until about a month before we left. They were very slow to respond to any calls and emails and when we got our despot back, they took $65 for cleaning the fronts of the cabinets.

We had left it in better condition that we found it so I thought this was absurd. Overall, very dissatisfied with the way Kahler Property Management cares for their tenants. I am giving them two stars because they did let us out of our lease. This was only after I complained about the lack of safety they were continuing to allow.

My experience with Kahler Property Management has been outstanding. They made the move in process super easy. They are very professional and friendly. The property is amazing and the rent is very fair. I love that I can pay my rent online after we came well done

After an arduous six weeks of house/apartment hunting, I finally found a beautiful home, thanks to Kahler Property Management. The personnel are professional, kind, knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. They quickly answered all my questions throughout about a hundred email conversations until I was satisfied. I moved in last Saturday and feel comfortable that I made the right choice. Great customer service!

I've been with Kahler Property Management for the past 25 years. I would highly recommend using their services! I've used other property management companies in other parts of the country, and Kahler is definitely the best I've worked with. They are always responsive to any issue that comes up and my monthly statement always arrived like clockwork. I recently sold my Rapid City property and can only hope I find future property management companies up to the high quality of service Kahler provided!

Very disappointing and frustrating experience renting with Kahler. When the hail storms hit back to back in the spring of 2020 we reported the damage to them. When we moved out we were still charged for some of the damage from the hail storm. When there was inspections that were supposed to have 24 hours notice, they would show up at the door when we're getting ready to leave the house.

There was no documentation of the notice. We were also sent a certified notice asking for them to have a 30 day extension to give us a final invoice. When they sent the final invoice they sent the bill to collections in less than a week 3 business days later. Now I get to have this on my credit history. If you're still unlucky enough to have to rent from them, make sure you document pictures of EVERYTHING.

They will try to put bogus things onto the move out inspection and then charge you for a bill.that will be sent to collections 3 business days later. Save some stress and money, DO NOT RENT FROM Kahler.

Critical: Professionalism Kept 100% of my deposit despite me steam cleaning the carpets and cleaning the place extremely well. Very unethical bottom line.

If you're looking for a great company to lease from, look no further. I've leased from them for years, at two different properties, and everything was always great. This company has been awesome to work with.

What a terrible experience we have had. They didn't respond to issues we had with our place. My wife and new born baby went a day and a half with out heat during the winter, we had mice with no response from the Kahler(I ended up taking care of the mice) We cleaned and thoroughly went through the house when moving out and the house was in better shape then when we arrived.

We ended up getting 213.00 back out of 1575.00. I called them to ask why and they would not give me any information. I then emailed pictures of when we moved in of all the damages already done and they simply stated that the owner and them fee the charges are correct. Yet, they could not explain how we caused $800.00 in damages to the walls, this is what they charged for just repainting all the walls( we didn't even go in one room and the charged us for ceiling paint).

The really bad part is they sold the house so they were going to repaint anyway and I paid for them to sell the house not to put it back in order of when we first arrived. My back history on renting, I have rented for the past 8 years and in those 8 years I have not been charge for anything but normal damages such as carpet cleaning, etc. my tract record is perfect and they abuse their power to take money that doesn't belong to them. The people at Kahler are rude and do not care about the end customer, they do care about taking your money which might I say they are very good at!

Avoid renting from this property manager if you can. Rent in Rapid City is expensive in general. But in my particular unit, they can't even provide basic amenities. No trash service, slow maintenance, etc. Recently, they raised the rent and then removed parking spots. (You can't even provide parking for your residents?) At the moment, I'm getting my AC unit replaced--which is a fun experience in July--and I was told that they only have one person to do work like this so I'm going to have to wait for an undetermined period of time.

How does a property manager of this size not have enough maintenance personnel to handle their residents? This will definitely be our last lease with Kahler Property Management. I would recommend that you look elsewhere for renting.

Rented a very small home from them near Grandview Elementary. Several times there were water leaks, either from the hook ups to the washer, under the kitchen sink or the toilet! The lady who owned the house and had a contract with Kahler had the audacity to complain about my maintenence requests. As if any of these things were my fault. When it came time to renew my lease I called 2 months in advance and asked about it SEVERAL times. Was given the run around numerous times!

Then the owner of the property shows up and tells us we are being evicted for reasons on Kahlers behalf not hers. But proceeded to talk about me to my neighbor who absolutely adored my husband, kids and I. Saying we "destroyed the house and didn't keep her bushes and lawn up". Mind you, there was some issues with the paint caused by my then 3 year old and ONE broken hinge on a door that was our fault.

The company itself was not terrible but before you rent from this place ask who the owner is! If her name is Nora? RUN. She evicted us 2 months after our lease was up to sell the house and for 2 months we sat wondering how long we would have a home. With two children in the middle of a pandemic. Wouldn't have been so hard to just tell us up front!
