San Juan Property Management is not a professional organization. We rented a property through them 5 months ago, in the Summer. Showed up and had to double check all our records to be sure this was the correct property. In no way does the ad resemble what we reserved. Not to mention, way overpriced! Tons of photos to prove it, even bugs in the beds, rusted pipes and the yard was unusable, in horrible shape.

The night was miserable and a hot day! We brought up our main issues immediately to the company when we got there. Didn't seem too interested in our problems, and sort of chuckled when we asked to be relocated. Although, hours later, helped bring us some coolers with frozen jugs of water for our ice, when we felt the 1980's fridge wasn't working well.

We ended up staying one of the two nights, couldn't bare it and booked a ferry back home immediately. Requesting a night's stay, $900, we have been communication with them for 5 months on how best to resolve this. We shared a negative review and now they're demanding us to take it down and will refund us $250. Pretty much a slap in the face if you ask me. It's been a joke how they've handled this and will not refund us the night we asked for.

We are all landlords ourselves and work through issues when they come up like any professional would. It's not worth the hassle or complaints! Or is it? It's interesting that this is all worth it to them. In any line of customer service, you find a way to make it right for the customer. Sometimes you have to swallow big issues, it's the way of doing business.

This is no way to handle business. We will not be renting through this management and have shared it with our friends who all frequent the islands as vacationers. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

We stayed at Whale Watch Point for our anniversary in February 2021. It was the first time on San Juan Island and we wanted a place to enjoy with some privacy, and also with easy parking to come and go while we explored the island. Whale Watch Point had a great location. We enjoyed our stay!

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value DO NOT rent from this place. Absolutely horrible customer service. Do not care about their customers. Called about some issues at our house and they said "You can leave if you want. No refunds". Home looked NOTHING like the pictures. So misleading. Don't say you were not warned.

One star is one too many! I recently stayed at an Air BnB managed by San Juan Property Management. The property was not clean, food was left in the fridge and half the ice was used. The dishes had bits of food left on them, and every top dish was dusty. (Hard to see in the picture.) The shelf the dishes were on had a layer of grime on it. I found a pink hair on a "clean" towel I had just washed my face with, and my hair is shorter and brown.

The place smelled as if it hadn't been used for a year, musty and of dirt. The locks were not explained. The exit door was very hard to use. One bed had no frame and was literally a mattress on top of two mattresses. The sheets did not smell fresh. The fire extinguishers were expired. There was no proper lighting to get from the back of the property to the front.

The grounds were completely unkempt. The "suite" was two separate rooms, and listed as such in fine print only, not in their main advertisement. This means they deliberately chose to list as a whole house/ apartment through Air BnB rather than honestly select "two separate rooms" as the main factor. Also the pictures show one main door, not two, as another indicator of deception.

I wish I could post the videos, but I can't. As a homeowner, the condition of the property was unacceptable. If I found my home being left in such condition by someone I had paid to take care of it I would be embarrassed and furious. As a customer, I informed them of the issues and vacated the property the first morning. I have sought a refund, and been denied.

They have gone so far as to leave me a bad customer review for my troubles. Do not hire them to take care of your property! Do not stay in a property managed by their lack of care. I have filed a complaint with the local fire department and obtained a copy of the report. Four violations/ repairs to be made were listed. Yet SJPM continues to deny my refund. ** Edited to add copy of the fire inspection report since the business claims no additional violations were found aside from the fire extinguishers. Yes, I have continued to complain because this company needs to be held accountable for their actions.

You can't skip cleaning/ half effort clean in the hotel / BnB business. ESPECIALLY with COVID. If anything it should be more clean than normal. Corners were cut, and pictures are worth a thousand words no matter how much they deny my claims everything is in my head/ my fault. Judge for yourselves! Just don't say I didn't warn you.

We stayed at the Cannery Inn (Hyak Room). Cute little place steps away from everything in Friday Harbor with an incredible view of the water! Like other guests have noted, one downside is you can hear everything your neighbours are doing - the walls are paper thin and the unit doors have a big gap at the bottom so they let in a lot of noise. They do supply ear plugs though.

A safe would have been a nice bonus because the doors don't feel secure being more like bedroom doors rather than suite doors. We ended up always taking our valuables with us. Overall would recommend if you're looking to be central to Friday Harbor and appreciate a good view!

My boyfriend and I rented an Airbnb managed by San Juan Property Management. The rental lost power in the main bedroom, had inadequate heating and extremely dangerous wiring. The county assessor's office has the house listed as a 3 bedroom, 2 bath place. They list it on airbnb as a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. The wiring was a DIY job, as was the remodel.

The county assessor said last major remodel was in 2003. They didn't care that the house is a tragedy waiting to happen. It is a tinderbox. They truly do not care, at all, about safety or honesty. Stay away!

We have worked with SJPM since 2015 and have seen, time after time when challenges arise, and they do. COVID-19 cancellations/changes/etc. Or the current Snowmageddon 2021 their property management team goes above and beyond for guests and owners alike. SJPM Team is extremely professional and hands-on; we cannot thank them enough for being our team leaders!

We stayed at one of their prosperities during the 4th of July weekend. Because it was a holiday weekend, the house was double the usual price. We were fine paying this, since it fit our guest count and had a hot tub. The listing was titled "gorgeous water front property with hot tub." These were our top priorities/how we filtered the search on air bnb.

If the house did not have a hot tub, we wouldn't have booked it. The title sold us! However, at 2 pm on the 3rd, (check in day) we were told the hot tub was not working from the last guests. Audrey, who works for the property management company, was initially great and said a guy named Dwight was checking it out and would get back to us or provide an update or compensation.

At 4 pm, which is also check in time, someone came and looked at the hot tub and said it should work and warm in a few hours. We got to the house at 8 pm and the hot tub was cold. We called the office and left message. On the 4th in the morning another person named Logan came to look at it. Later on in the day we called the non emergency line to document it still wasn't working by leaving a voicemail.

We never heard back until Monday (the 6th/check out day) when I called again to notify the hot tub didn't work the whole weekend. Audrey said there would be compensation. Audrey called back and said there would be a $200 comp. We spent 4,000 dollars to stay from the 3rd-6th, again we were fine with this price because it slept ten people and had a hot tub. However, when we told we would only be comped $200 (5%) we asked to for a greater comp and Audrey said her manager would call us back.

We were never called - I called again on the 9th and was sent to voicemail. I left a message. On Sunday (7/12) we got an email saying the comp was final at $200. On 7/13 I called and was sent to voicemail. Considering we wouldn't have booked without a hot tub, and were never called back/ received only 5% compensation, we are really disappointed with San Juan Property Management.

We rented "My Island Home Retreat". As yelp says 2 stars means "Meh. I have experienced (WAY) better". We stayed here for 4 nights. The problems started right at the beginning. Here is the email that I sent San Juan Property Management in regards to the issues. We are disappointed in our stay at this house, we will not be staying here again. The house is not well cared for, and there is a lot of deferred maintenance and safety issues.

The price of the house did not justify the maintenance issues that this house has. Safety - *House was unlocked when we arrived - very unnerving in a place that is out of town and unfamiliar to us. *No cell phone service as such there should be a working landline for emergencies or to be able to contact the management company - there is not a working landline *All exterior doors should have deadbolts. - 2 year old was easily able to open all exterior doors * Huge hole in the wall in the basement (child size) that is covered by an easily moved plastic storage container Maintenance Issues / other issues- * Internet only works close to the wireless router, does not work upstairs or in the basement.

Only 5GHz internet works, the 2.4GHz does not work * No DirecTV as discussed in rental documents - Roku box requires subscription * Very musty damp smell in the basement * No drapes/curtains in most bedrooms (especially on the ground floor!) landscapers were present during the stay. Further trying to get kids to sleep before the sun goes down (9:30pm) when it is super bright outside is impossible * Toilet Paper holder and towel holder in basement bathroom was broken * All leather couches in the room with the TV need repair. the leather chair has a very broken back, and the leather is all coming apart on the sofa. * All upholstery is coming off the dining room chairs, the larger chairs in the dining room have all broken springs and are very uncomfortable to sit on. * The hot tub cover is broken as such you can not slide it all the way off, making it a little dangerous for children going "under" the cover that is still on the tub *The upstairs laundry room/bathroom the dryer is not vented, and just vents in the room making it very very damp in that room when running the dryer. * This room is also missing the door jam on one side? * basement is missing baseboard in places * There are beds outside under the house. are these used in the house at times? makes me question the beds we are sleeping on * The twin bed in the left side of the room is very very broken and missing slots in it, my husband fell through the bed when putting my son to bed. * A lot of the interior doors are missing door handles, makes it very difficult to open (ie the french doors off the front door) * Ceiling lights missing covers (just exposed bulbs) * Carpet in master bedroom closet is coming unraveled * Bath towels are very worn and ragged * Lots of random holes that have been patched throughout the house but not painted There are also a lot of "personal" items in this house, which we have not experienced in prior vacation homes, and seems a little odd at times.

The one saving grace was that the house did appear to be cleaned well! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Response from SJPM~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All I can say is that we do what we can with the homes provided. The items you listed below as well as the rent price is controlled by the homeowners, but again will pass along your comments to them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In summary this house needs a TON of repairs and was not child friendly. SJPM response is very disappointing that they would "do what they can with the homes provided". they are posting deceiving photos of the actual state of the home you are renting.

This business employs unethical people and will flat out lie to you. I reserved a property through VRBO. 4 months later I rec'd a phone call from this business telling me that I had made my reservation under a "false" listing on VRBO's website. They told me I had to call them and pay more (and not a little bit more a LOT more) but I could still have my dates. Well, this sounded very phishy to me so, I called VRBO.

I was assured by VRBO that the listing that I reserved under was valid and the owner had been with VRBO for a number of years. I checked San Juan Property Management website and they had the same house listed and they advertised it as being "NEWLY LISTED". Did they tell me that they recently took over the property? NO. They chose to lie. The owner of the property would no longer respond to me through VRBO.

From further communication from this company the owner of the property was passing my repeated attempts to get a response from her on to this company. A company that I had nothing to do with and had never heard of before that had NEWLY LISTED a property that I had reserved months prior. A business that will lie and not honor prior commitments and is unethical should lose their business license. I would NEVER book with this business.

We stayed in the Cannery Inn. Great views and clean, but the walls are so thin we could hear the people next to us snoring! We felt like we were staying in a cardboard box.

We stayed in Churchill Suites #4 in August and it was very nice. The unit was clean and comfortable. San Juan management was easy to contact and accessible. The units are quiet and walking distance to the shops and ferry. Perfect location of you're a walk on to ferry. Even the beds were comfortable. Master suite had a lovely view of the harbor and a private deck.

I loved that they provided box fans as I need the background noise to sleep. I am notoriously hard to please when it comes to lodging. We would definitely return Great job. Thank you

Three years ago, we signed the HOUND & HARE COTTAGE FALSE BAY on San Juan Island up for vacation rental management with SJPM, and since day one, we have sung SJPM praises. They have a very talented and professional team, even including professional photographer Wes Edholm for marketing properties. Their marketing is extremely effective, and their office team flexible and attentive when meeting our needs.

They are available 24/7, 365 for both property owners and guests, and they strive for perfection. I do not know how they do it, but season after season, our working relationship improves. If you are looking for property management in the San Juan Islands, we highly recommend working with ERIN, AUBREY, CHRIS, LOGAN, and the rest of Team San Juan Property Management!

My wife and I rented the Dashel suite loft in Friday harbor and we were disappointed in the living room lay out and the futon that acted as the couch. It was lumpy, old and uncomfortable and had a very offensive odor. The beds were equally old and uncomfortable. Not to mention a moldy shower curtain and cob webs in the lights over the kitchen area.

These issues could have been overlooked if San Juan properties was willing to move us to another property but their response was to move us for a additional $ 200 per night on top of the $350 per night we already paid. As I had explained my wife needed a comfortable place to rest due to a back injury and all I got was the feeling Erin the representative was uninterested in helping us and I found her to be very flip. Nothing else to say other than beware of properties managed by these folks!

Thank you to San Juan Property Management for a wonderful family weekend. The house we rented was perfect and we loved looking out every morning to the deer in the yard. The house was so clean and had everything we needed as well as a game room for the kids. The management company was friendly and so easy to deal with. They had great suggestions for places to see and eat on the island. Can't want to go back!

We had such a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend in the San Juan's. San Juan Property Management helped us find the perfect house for our extended family. The house was very tidy and comfortable for our group of 8. The kids loved the game room and we loved the big equipped kitchen for cooking our Thanksgiving dinner. The people at San Juan Property Management were so friendly, it was like we had known them for years! We look forward to our next trip to the islands.

Talk about a Christmas NIGHTMARE.I recently stayed at the Yatch Haven property while visiting Friday's Harbor where I vacation yearly, sometimes multiple times within a year. The property is extremely poorly managed. I do not know if the owners are aware and can only speak to my personal experience with San Jaun Property Managment. I am a Home Owner and I have a strong background in real estate specializing in property management and customer service.

Aside from numerous hidden fees ( not to mention a $200 cleaning fee for a poorly cleaned vacation rental) there were multiple issues with the cleanliness of the property and most significantly the managements lack of caring, supervision or response to these issues. As a Home Owner I would advise anyone looking for decent property management to steer clear of hiring San Juan Property Management.

Especially Chris. While I did meet a kind elderly cleaning woman upon trying to locate the property the property was filthy upon check in. The dishes and glasses had stuck on food particles and had to be hand washed and sanitized prior to use. The two dish towels left out for my use were disgustingly stained and smelled. There was dried vegetable matter on the countertops that was green in color indicating that the countertops were not properly cleaned.

The interior of the fridge was so dirty I kept my food in the paper bags Kings Market had provided me with my entire stay. There was leftover food from previous guests in the refrigerator as well. The jacuzzi was also filthy. Not just the water quality but the stench of mold and mildew permeated the spa experience due to neglect and as a spa owner I can attest to the fact that the tub is not maintained as it should be regardless of what "Chris" deems normal. Spa water should be clear and free of debris and the cover should be occasionally cleaned as to prevent the smell of mold and mildew and while jets can be strong and produce air bubbles there is no excuse for soapy suds that pour over the edge and any person who properly maintains a spa knows this. It's a shame the property management can't be bothered.

I did call to advise only because I did not want to be blamed for putting any bubble bath type products in the spa as someone had clearly done so but these people just don't care. I only used the one bedroom upstairs facing the deck during my entire stay which contains the King sized bed. While the bed was made, upon entering the bed in the evening it was clear that the linens had not been recently and or properly washed.

There was a very peculiar odor coming from the linens. Considering that the guests prior were charged a $200 cleaning fee as was I, this is completely unacceptable. Not surprisingly the bed frame, mattress and or linens are infested with Bed Bugs. Bed Bug bites as Chris mentioned are extremely easy to distinguish as they tend to have leave a very unique bite pattern that is undeniable.

His response to this was to firstly ask if the bites were in a row type style followed by "thanks for letting me know". Unbelievable. He had zero regard and did not so much as apologize let alone offer any remedy or resolve despite photographs and proper documentation. My intention in calling was to firstly make them aware, secondly see to it that no guest suffered physically in this manner moving forward, thirdly a refund and lastly to recoup any medical costs.

His question is highly telling. Sound familiar? Previous complaints? I have contacted VRBO, filed a complaint and I will attempt to contact the owner to make them aware since they may have no clue as to how poorly this place is managing their home. Interestingly enough they are trying to sell the property and this company was not given the listing.

I will also be reaching out to other proper parties including but not limited to the States Bureau of Real Estate. To pay $1,000 for a 2 night stay ANY WHERE and suffer damages is beyond any monetary issue at this point and all based on principle after the way Chris behaved so inappropriately, unprofessionally and dismissive. Please for the health and safety of your family avoid this property as a rental and do not entrust them to manage your property, or anything for that matter including their own employees!

This company has handled our vacation rental for two years now. They are professional and prompt and very reputable. They require property owners to maintain their rentals and the regular service to both renters and owners is superb.

Alana Vista home. Beautiful setting. Clean, nice decor. Fair price. We had a great time. One exception: kitchen is not well stocked, especiallly wine classes, salad bowls etc. kitchen faucet is loose and about to break. We would tell people that downstairs big bedroom does not have a door. Not a problem for us but might be for some. Overall, great place.

We chose Elephant House for the views and were not disappointed. We saw harbor seals and porpoises from the deck within an hour of arriving. Mornings brought a parade of boats and ships, some close and others far across the channels. And don't miss the sunsets. The house isn't perfect. It has some creaky floors and squeaky doors, a trickle-to-torrent faucet in the kitchen, and a tiny TV that discourages staying inside and watching movies.

They aren't kidding when they describe is as "High Bank Waterfront." Not a place for walks on a beach or tide-pooling from the house. On the other hand, a small beach is only a couple minutes' walk up the road. San Juan Property Management responded quickly when we needed a light bulb replaced, the only problem we had during our stay. The gas fire made mornings cozy, the neighbors were quiet, and the view made other entertainment unnecessary. It was just right for our small group during some fine fall weather.
