I was in contact with an agent at Westside rentals over the course of a week concerning a property. I was prepared to make the deal sight unseen because of my need to find an apartment in time to move for a job in LA. They asked for information, I provided it. I was told I would need a co-signer for my son. I immediately told them I could provide a co-signer and provided a link to the co-signers Linkedin page. Provided my son's driver's license and his new job salary data.

I called the next day and all of a sudden I'm told they are reviewing another application and that I should call the following week. I was never told that another application was being reviewed until I sent the picture ID. Hmmm.

Well it's not often that I'm able to write a review and have true first hand knowledge but this is that review. Currently the rental home in Redondo Beach listed via westside rentals states the home has air conditioning, fireplace, steel appliances, listed for $1850 and says all utilities are included. Well I am here to tell you, The last time this property listed there was no fireplace there was no air-conditioning, there were no steel appliances, and NO utilities were includes.

Not to mention it has to be a typo because in early 2022 the property was renting for over $3860. Renters beware! Benefit of the doubt here. So maybe this a unicorn of a rental? But my gut says other. Save yourself a load of disappointment and ask a lot of questions!

They charge 60.00 for a bunch of outdated property. Places that are already rented. Old listing on their website and signs that need to be taken down on the people's property. I found my place just from driving around the neighborhood. Do not pay these crooks.

Westside Rentals used to be great as a landlord it brought better clients to my unit. Now this business does not exist It was sold two and is now apartments.com Apartments.com is nothing like Westside rentals used to be it is now a site geared towards making money off of you. I'm not saying that it can't work in your benefit but I can tell you that it's not an honest site.

My post was out for less than two months and they said I have 3000 views which is utter bullshit and I've gotten may be one response. They keep sending me notices telling me if I bought the package I would do so much better I don't think it's true. It is most likely in my opinion not going to really do anything for anyone unless you to buy their $400 package which is what they want. Westside Rentals for the a long time was stellar it was free it was efficient and it was local.

If you want to get renters or you want to rent, your better suited going to Zillow. I signed up for Zillow and that's where all my contacts are coming from. Steer clear of apartments.com its a scam.

NO! DO NOT USE If you care about safety DO NOT USE! There is NO option to have undisclosed (address) in rental listings. This is a major safety hazard, especially for personal residences. Hours of a new rental posting, a man was waiting outside my home approaching me regarding the listing. The post clearly stated No drive bye, Do Not Disturb Tennant, will be disqualified. People have no regard. It's concerning to share home address, car-license, safety of family before ever knowing one detail of someone. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

As a property owner living across the street from a four-unit property managed by Westside I have nothing but issues with people partying all night loud arguments people staying over over and over and my car has been hit and run by guests of the units bringing it to the Management's attention is about as effective as used toilet paper as they don't have to put up with it because they don't live there and will do nothing when brought to their attention they suck

Their website does not save the properties you have marked as favorites. Don't waste your time on their website. You'll just have to write down everything yourself & compare notes.

I texted the number provided on their advertisement. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE! Come on people! This is the basic customer service practice. I texted "Kelly" back on a Wednesday and still nothing. I included in my text how unprofessional she is. This is her response today (Sunday): My apologies. I missed your text on Wednesday. The unit has been rented. Kelly I AM LOOKING FOR A HOME! I hope you end up in a situation like this and get the same treatment! I've received better service from a dog kennel.

Sleazy, predatory landlords list here. You should not be charged an application fee to apply to rent an apartment (this is often just a scam) and you should never allow a landlord to do a hard pull on a credit report, which is for lending money only. A soft pull is sufficient for obtaining a rental. On top of that a lot of the listings are just plain deceptive and fraudulent. People need to be more aware of how to spot a con and scam because clearly this company does not do anything to prevent it and in fact seems to encourage it.

I found my last two apartments with Westside Rentals and they were amazing, now they SUCK! I went there expecting the same amazing service and found out that apartments.com bought them. So sad as they were such a reputable company before this, now all I see is scammy listings and postings that dont even have real comments. Its free now so at least you dont have to spend the $55 like I did, but I would pay that and more to have the real Westside Rentals back. *sigh* Example: "- Direct Contact : If you want faster respons please contact me in my private email address : @ / please include the property address into your message.

About the property : The apartment has just been renovated, it is very bright and has a cosy feeling. The open plan kitchen is fully furnished and leads to a sunny balcony for you to enjoy after and before your whereabouts."

Oh don't worry, I got a refund already without you even saying anything. So don't make it sound like something special and that you are doing me a favor. Very generic response to offer a refund. Look at all the other responses to complaints. they give the same canned refund response. So many complaints that I guess it's too much trouble to answer each complaint personally.

There is no authentic apology or explanation or a promise that the website will get better. There is not even a denial that the website sucks and isn't full of scams, inaccuracies and rented properties. Landlords rarely ever pick up with those dumb 844 numbers. APARTMENTS.COM SUCKS and now WESTSIDE RENTALS SUCKS ever since Apartments.com bought them out. Deny all that. oh wait, there probably isn't a canned response for that.

As a renter, I'd say skip it. Paid the fee last week ($55) and didn't see anything listed on WSR that wasn't also on the MLS or Craigslist. The website is also wonky (wouldn't save searches, etc.) and there is no response to support emails. I used WSR two years ago & it was a much better experience, but that may have been before the apartments.com takeover.

UGH. Solicitors. I have a craigslist ad up to rent a house and it clearly say's NO solicitors but i get a call from these guys about every 3 days trying to sell me on their website. Thank you but NO! Craigslist, Zillow and Trulia seem to be the best source for renting.

I used this service so many times between 1999 and 2008 and always found the best deals. Not anymore. DON'T waste your money on this! The company sucks now! The filters don't work for searches. You will do a search for "pet friendly" places, and the search results will have in their descriptions in bold "NO PETS". You will do a search for a 2 bedroom apartment, and get results for a bedroom for rent with a roommate.

I have flagged about 30 miscategorized listings, and written customer service at least 2 dozen times and no-one ever responded. No one is monitoring the listings for accuracy. I wanted a refund because the service is SO BAD, all I do is flag listings for being mis-categorized. None of the places I inquired into got back to me, and there are listings with no contact info at all. It's horrible and I wasted $65 on this.

Might as we have thrown the cash in the garbage. RIP westsiderentals. UPDATE: I did get a refund, which I was grateful for, bc the site really was exactly as I described. However, I am wondering if they fixed the search filters? Because it honestly USED to be the best website to find a place to live in LA. I used to find the most unbelievable deals there. It seems Apartments.com bought the company just so they could put it out of business and kill the competition.

I've hunted for apartments in LA a bunch of times and Westside Rentals always has the most listings. My first go-to when looking for a new place. Had some issues with my account, but Brad was extremely helpful and got me back up and running with a quick phone call. As for the other reviewers, Apartments.com has integrated a number of the listings, but the contact info on Westside Rentals is always the most up to date and I've been able to get a hold of the landlords both via email and phone.

If I could give this company negative reviews I would. Let's discuss the app: They charge you $60/month and none of the features work. You can't apply through the app. You can't email landlords through the app. You can't apply or send emails on the website. You can't send text messages to any of the numbers. If you log in with Facebook you have to call to get a username and password to be able to use the website.

The point of having an app is to be able to do things on the go. Not to have to sit down with a pen and paper as a supplement and make sure you have a good cell phone or wifi connection. These people are gangsters that are out to strong arm money from customers by making themselves the largest available rental "service provider" in the LA area. They're criminals.

I didn't want to drop $50+ for a month of home searching. Half the reviews say they're a ripoff, the other half swear by them. And all listings are on Apartments.com, no? Well, a rep emailed me, WSR gets listings for a week before pushing them to Apartments.com. Fine, I'll subscribe for a month. And flush money down the toilet. So many landlords on this site are simply awful people.

One place listed Tuesday night, saying their apartment would be open all day the following day for viewing. Got out there in the afternoon to find a handwritten "sorry, rented." on the door. Sent an email complaint about wasting my time to WSR, no apology or response. Called another.no greeting, just "What do you do? Got pay stubs? It's Tuesday, call Thursday and we can arrange to see unit on Friday." Is anyone surprised to learn he rented it when I called Thursday?

Then there was the fake listing on their app. Property manager told me it was fake and I even reported it.but the listing stayed for weeks. I think I found one or two units on their app that never appeared elsewhere, but the vast majority were on Apartments.com the same day. Uh, maybe they had a Mafia hold on the rental scene in the past. No more.

Bullet points * did not find a place using this *a lot of listings I contacted were non responsive *the one that I did get in contact with seems shady to me *would recommed to just use all the other apps like Trulia, Zillow, apartments.com * they do refund, just contact them Did not find my place using this, instead I just found my place through yelp(ironic right).

I was looking through Beverly Hills and a lot the places I contacted was either non responsive (like dead, no joke) or the place I actually got in touch with, the person seemed super sketchy asking me for the photo for the front and back of my credit card to charge for the credit check for the application (I seriously feel a little scared of the other info that I have already given to that person), I blocked the security code in the photo of course but after that he actually asked for 12 months in advance because I'm an international student and have no us grantor and he kept on saying that there is another person that is applying too (I literally think he said that just to pressure me).

Everything about it just screams shady to me. And the thing is I have really good credit (I had my credit check done before by different apartment complexes)and I literally can apply for an apartment which is much more expensive(such as the one I'm currently living in) then that apartment without having a us grantor or any money in advance. I don't know if it really was a scam but I do know that it seemed sketchy and weird af. Felt a little traumatized by this event.

Please never get pressured to do something you have a bad feeling about. I'm so glad I didn't fall for that and I found the a place in an apartment complex that I wanted right after that happened. Also I saw people demanding refunds on yelp so I just emailed them and got an email saying that they refunded me. However, the refund didn't show up in my credit card statement so I called and the person was actually really easy to get a hold of. I said that it should show up in a few days and gave me his contacts so I'll update when I do see it. this is the only reason that it has 2 stars.

Total scam. Looked for apartments in WestLA and kept seeing this sign. Something just didn't sit right, having to pay money to see what was available. When you're going to be committing 2-3k a month for a 2 bedroom via lease. Like the slumlords in the area aren't making enough profit.

Westside Rentals was recently acquired by Apartments.com. For years Westside Rentals would charge poor renters to contact Landlords for all their listings, and not charge wealthy Landlords anything to list. Now, Apartments.com has established a policy of not charging renters to contact Landlords. I don't think any renters will miss Westside Rentals. Good griddens. Better yet, Apartments.com has a review section so you can write and read reviews of the many apartments that previously escaped scrutiny.

This landlord said "Don't worry, everything perfect!" Then the lease term started and he hadn't cleaned and repaired, and had lied about other things. He returned my calls after three days and said he would let me out of the lease. It was his idea! He said he would give back my payments if I left and turned in the keys. None of it was in writing but I didn't think he would stiff me.

I left and he never returned calls and never returned any of the money. He doesn't use his real name: Farid Yadegar (the elderly man is Noorollah, his dad). The lease has many waivers of your rights. It even has a clause where you sign away your right to sue him but that's just to throw you off - in California you can't waive your right. I won a small part of the cash back in small claims, even though Farid is a lawyer. I've had many great, honest landlords - this one was quite the exception. I just wish I could get the remaining money ($1,100) back.
